Why did you choose to attend JCC?

I was local from Benson and 1 of 14 siblings so my parents could not afford to send me to a four-year college.

What were the advantages of attending JCC for you?

It was affordable and allowed me the opportunity to work and pay my own way.

Describe your college experience at JCC. What did you like most?

My first memorable experience was as a Phi Theta Kappa member. We had the opportunity to travel to Appalachian State University in Boone to compete with other community colleges in various program events. A second memorable experience was returning as a transfer student and being selected and serving as a JCC ambassador. Thirdly, I am so honored to serve now as a member of the JCC Foundation Board of Directors.

What advice do you have for individuals considering JCC as their college choice?

JCC will give you a head start and more choices in the workforce ahead of four-year programs. JCC offers a dual-admission program now with NCSU, ECU, and UNCW offering a structured, guaranteed pathway for progressing directly from an associate’s degree to a bachelor’s degree. Why shouldn’t you choose JCC? Opportunities are endless.

In your opinion, what value does the JCC Foundation bring to the college and the Johnston County community?

JCC produces some of the finest individuals, the best and brightest people to the workforce. JCC’s commitment to continually improve campus quality, educational programs, and student affairs is a testimony to their investment in the community. As I look back over the years, I remember how I got here. JCC made it all possible for me and has been an integral part of my commitment and motivation to continually serve the community to open up a whole range of possibilities and business opportunities.
