Take a class at night and a couple on Saturday and you’ll have that degree finished in no time!

Johnston Community College is making it easier to earn an associate in arts (AA) or associate in science (AS) degree through a combination of evening, weekend, and online classes.

All courses required for both AA and AS degrees can be completed through the evening/weekend option in four to five semesters. Classes meet one night a week and Saturdays for two to three hours and instruction is split between face-to-face and online delivery.

Dawn Dixon, associate vice president of university studies and educational technologies, said she hopes the new option will be appealing to students looking for flexible class times.

“This new evening, weekend option will allow transfer students juggling work and family an alternative to day classes,” Dixon said. “We want to make it easier for students to earn a degree by offering programs that fit their schedule.”

Students enrolling for fall 2019 can discuss evening/weekend course options with their advisor. Advising for transfer students is available March 11 – July 29 for the fall semester. Fall registration is April 1 – July 29.
